Have you listened to yourself lately?
I have, and it made me think.
Over the last few weeks, I have been listening to myself talking to a number of people about what I do as a coach. This may sound strange, but listening is my business - and so is practising what I preach.
As a former Communications and PR professional, I have developed a series of boilerplate statements about me and what I do for use in a range of standard situations. These are accurate, succinct and clear. As a slightly introverted person who was brought up being firmly discouraged from blowing her own trumpet, they were difficult to devise when the topic was me.
As I listened to myself, I realised that I hide behind them, reeling them off - whilst trying to maintain solid eye contact - but without the style and panache of Dames Helen Mirren or Judi Dench. I wasn't sure I really believed me!
So I am binning the boilerplate and channelling my inner dame. Contact me and you will get an individually tailored, free-of-charge and free-of-obligation introductory 30-minute session to establish what you want to work on and how I can draw on my range of skills to help you identify and achieve the change you want to make.
Giving a true picture of the richness of my practice that will appeal to the diverse and very non-standard clients I meet is important. Being authentic as a person requires me to believe what I am saying. Actions matching words, one of my key values, and essential for any leader.
If you are struggling with:
- establishing a clear vision of your future
- balancing what you want to do, be and have in your life
- knowing and acknowledging your strengths
- applying the values that drive your decision making
- being confident in how you are perceived by others
then I can help you. Get in touch to arrange a boilerplate-free introduction!
