Retirement: end or beginning?

When I decided to retire from full-time employment after more than forty years, I had many conversations with people who asked me what I was going to do with all that free time. It's a question I had thought about for a long time!

I was determined to do something new and challenging, continuing lifelong self-development and an exploration of what I can do to help people (including myself) to thrive. I saw it as the end of the beginning, and an opportunity to transition into another phase of life as a self-employed executive coach and mentor. But it was also the beginning of the end of my career and I didn't want to waste all I have learned to slowly disappear from view.

It was particularly heartening to hear from Terri Bourne recently, as she makes her own transition in retirement from her business to become an author. Describing herself as a writer felt daunting at first, yet here we are with publication of her book 'The Beginning of the End', in which she guides the small business owner in preparation for retirement.

If you are thinking about your own retirement and what it means to you, this book provides insights and, above all, proof that you can plant the seeds of aspiration and deliver on it, even (especially) in retirement. Bravo Terri!
